A close race

The Politico estimates Obama's post-convention bounce to be only about 5-6 points total, averaging all the most recent polls together...

That's lower than what a campaign wants--what they want most is at least a 10 pt bounce, or at least an average bounce--which would be 8 points.
And Obama's bounce appears to have already peaked, and may be declining.
And this week America will meet Sarah Palin, and John McCain will make his case in his acceptance speech. A close race, indeed...
