Dictatorship speaks

Hu Jintao, chairman of the Chinese Communist Party and thus the strongman in charge of China's government, spoke directly today to the news media, in order to explain some of his government's crackdowns in advance of the Beijing Olympic games:

"We have one wish. It is to make the Beijing Olympic Games, a global sports gathering, a success," Mr. Hu said."


Yes. That was Adolf Hitler's wish, in advance of the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin. It's what dictatorships want--a showcase to make their regime look good. Nothing new here.
