In case you happen to be a Detroit Lions fan...

...be afraid. Be very afraid. The positive talk coming out of their training camp is almost scary. I grew up in Michigan. I've been a Lions fan since I was a kid. I've seen this and heard this so many times before (all Lions fans know exactly what I mean). We've always wound up disappointed. (in the last 6 years, the Lions' record is 24 wins, 72 losses; the last championship they won was in 1957; they've won exactly ONE playoff game since then.) Yet we keep coming back for more; a new season brings hope, hoping things...this time...will be different. There's a life lesson in there somewhere.

Maybe that's part of the allure of sports---it's a drama, it's a story; but there's no guarantee the good guys (your team) will win. But that's what makes it so riveting, the not knowing.
