A hurricane of hysteria in the House...

It occurred last night. Apparently Republicans had won a vote that would have, in the agricultural bill under discussion, barred any money in it from going to illegal immigrants for things like rent support. But Democrats suddenly made various and vague arguments as to why the vote didn't count. Now this morning it's been completely erased from the House journal. Detials here. You can watch the video of the partisan flare-up here. It's worth watching--the chorus of anger from the Republican side of the House is obvious, and genuine. A Republican congressman e-mailed a reporter that the Democrats were now cheating to win votes.

Partisanship isn't new, but I don't think this makes the Democrats look too good. What happened to the Democrats' pledges of comity, bipartisanship, and openness?
