Why conservatives should like Tyra Banks

First, read this recent article about her, from the New York Times.
And read the whole thing.

Yes, yes, there's reasons not to like her--certainly don't like the world of reality series and talk shows and mass culture, of which she's a big part.
But look deeper. Tyra Banks is someone who has: pulled herself up by her own bootstraps, through a lot of hard work; someone whose audience, if you take her two shows, rivals that of "The View" or David Letterman; someone who urges those attending her shows and the aspiring young women on "America's Next Top Model" to learn, to know something, to be strong; someone who stresses individual empowerment and self-action. She urges her audience and her young models to be responsible for their own actions.

Conservatives can't dislike any of that.
As driven and as smart as she is, you can, ahem, "bank" on her continued success.
