Lots of discussion (again) of the John Edwards story that won't go away--the expensive haircuts he's been getting that were, not a one-time thing as the campaign tried to claim, but that have occurred regularly since 2003. The original story and a lot of commentary nicely rounded up here by Ann Althouse.
Though I gotta say--yes, the Edwards campaign has handled this badly and hasn't been terribly truthful about it all, and I suppose that's a legit issue; but don't we have larger, more fundamental issues of principle to talk about these days? What should be on peoples' mindss when they think of the Edwards campaign might include 1] has he really thought through his desire for an immediate U.S. pullout from Iraq? If we leave, what will happen to Iraq? 2] The centerpiece of his campaign is a massive, government-led antipoverty campaign--a new war on poverty, really. Can it work? Haven't we tried a war on poverty before, with dubious results?
